#1126 Unofficial Advanced Training Advantages
Ralgith and I were discussing the idea of "advanced training" pilot advantages (it would probably need its own tab so it wouldn't make the current pilot tab too long) which would essentially represent extra intensive training for a pilot to negate certain effects of special terrain/climates/gravity/etc.
For instance "low gravity training" - pilot is able to negate penalties to-hit for ballistics and missiles and receive a -1 to piloting rolls while under low gravity (counter acting the +1 all PSRs would receive for being under low gravity).
This came up when we were doing a battle on a low gravity world between the planetary Baron's Home Guard and the Planetary Militia and we got to thinking that both forces would almost never leave their planet and would have trained their entire careers to fight in low gravity conditions so the penalties wouldn't make a lot of sense for them. Of course in their case I would actually expect them to encounter the normal high gravity penalties when on planets with standard gravity but that's going off topic.
I heartily support the addition of such advantages.
This is a good idea and goes beyond just the example alex mentioned. This is an idea that is in the Mercs books and cannot only negate certain negative effects, but actually give positive bonuses, such as night operations training.
I like it and hope to see it implemented.
