First of all, apologies if this has already been requested.
I’ve been using Media Companion for over 10 years now. After switching from Kodi to mainly to Jellyfin, I really appreciate how nicely the .nfo files are compatible (in most cases)
I was wondering if it would be possible to also scrape the original titles for TV show episodes (tvdb), similar to how it works for movies. At the moment, I’m adding them manually for some series.
For some series, especially for those who are a bit nerdy about it, the title in my native language and the original (usually English) title have the same significance, so having this feature would be really useful.
For Movies scraping additional Original Titles works very well with MC.
Thanks for considering!

I have checked and this data is available on TMDB. Unfortunately MC can not get this data from TVDb as we have not move to the latest ''paid'' api version.
I have roughly added the code, not available yet for testing, and it works. I need to work out how to display this in MC, as presently the tv form is very full.

I was aware that TheTVDB made some changes, but I didn’t realize that “normal data” is now behind a paywall too. That’s a bit unfortunate, but I understand—API queries have often been misused, so I can see why they’d restrict it. Honestly, the only real advantage TheTVDB still has for me is the role-specific actor images and a bit more better metadata—otherwise it’s almost negligible these days.
So if a future implementation were added, I’d need to switch the scraper to TMDb first. Then, in theory, I could use: “Use Rescraper Wizard on this Show” → Episode Batch Wizard → Original Title to pull it in retroactively?
Also, maybe it could be possible in the future to set a target language for “original” titles? That’s something I sometimes missed with movies. For example, Asian titles with unreadable characters—I usually end up fixing them manually to English, because for me “original” is English.
Thanks You Rob for the great MC Tool!
