I'm using Meanwhile via Pidgin 2.4.0 on Microsoft Windows. When I try to add a buddy, I always get the "Select User" window that says "An ambiguous user ID was entered" and presents a list with two users asking me to select the correct one. When I select the correct entry and press the Add button, another "Select User" window opens presenting me with the same two options. If I select the user and press Add again, a third "Select User" window opens, and so on....
I believe that the cause of the problem is that users appear to have two entries on the server, one that looks like this (this is the correct entry that I need to add):
User Name: Flintstone Fred (Legal Department), Sametime ID: fred.flintstone@company.com
The second entry looks like this:
User Name: fred.flintstone@company.com, Sametime ID: CN=Fred Flintstone,OU=Company,OU=com
I suspect that instead of just taking the entry I select at face value, it queries the server again for entries where either of the two fields matches the value in the Sametime ID field of the entry that I had selected. Since the same email address appears in both entries (in separate fields), it gets confused and thinks it needs to ask me for disambiguation again. And again. And again.
