#162 Window position gets malconfigured

This software has a seemingly random chance of changing the values of the preferences.conf attributes "window x" and "window y" to -32000. Once this has been done, any new instances I launch are inoperable, presumably because their window position is far off-screen. I then have to manually edit the attributes to make this software operational again. Under normal circumstances, these two attributes are given the value -8 on my system.

This first happened to me on 3.1.1, but it also happened multiple times when I tried out 3.2.0.
