I resolved this by removing the entire /opt/mbse directory, removing mbse & bbs users, rebooting, then performing a fresh install of mbsebbs-1.0.9.tar.bz2
Do you know that v1.1,0 was released some time ago ?
It is available via the GIT repository OR via Fido area MBSEBBS as MB110.ZIP
