Category: Lisp Core Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Maxima 5.9.3 does not work Initial Comment: I tried to install Maxima 5.9.3 on Fedora4 using rpm update with maxima-exec-clisp-5.9.3-1.fedora1 and it does not run. I received the message "[dead]" running under TeXmacs 1.0.6. I reinstalled Maxima 5.9.2 using maxima-exec-gcl-5.9.2-2 and it now runs fine. Please let me know if a gcl version of 5.9.3 will be available, or a fix for exec-clisp. My e-mail is Ata...@cs.... Thanks! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2006-04-03 12:12 Message: Logged In: NO My problem was resolved when I was notified that TeXmacs 1.0.6 does not yet support Maxima 5.9.3. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Robert Dodier (robert_dodier) Date: 2006-03-24 07:50 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=501686 From what you say above, it sounds like you only updated the maxima-exec rpm. You need to update both the maxima rpm and the maxima-exec rpm. Also, if I recall correctly, TeXmacs doesn't recognize Maxima 5.9.3 because "5.9.3" isn't on its list of Maxima versions (or something silly like that). Advice (1): download the maxima-5.9.3-1.fedora1 rpm and try again with both rpms. Advice (2): Try to establish whether the problem is TeXmacs. If you install the two 5.9.3 rpms (see item 1), can you execute Maxima from the command prompt? The command is "maxima". Advice (3): If "maxima" won't execute from the command line and/or the rpms won't install, download the source rpm and build binary rpms and install them. Maxima 5.9.3 has a lot of enhancements and bug fixes, and, if you do create binary rpms, we can host them at the SF file manager so other people can download them.
