Well, perhaps someone will make the reversion on branch-5_34 so that
it can be rolled into a 5.34.1 release.

Hmm, I thought the proposal was to remove 'solid' instead.

It is perhaps not so straightforward to test the plotting code because
it doesn't have simple input/output behavior. But there is a script
tests/rtest_plot.mac which has a lot of plotting examples -- perhaps
we can add some examples to exercise the line type (solid/dashed/etc).
