Maxima 5.28.0 works for me too.

(%i1) build_info();
(%o1)
Maxima version: "5.28.0"
Maxima build date: "2014-03-07 14:09:45"
Host type: "x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu"
Lisp implementation type: "SBCL"
Lisp implementation version: "1.1.12-1.fc20"

I can't get a working Maxima 5.30.0 at the moment,
Maxima chokes at invocation with a lisp problem.
