graphic option "transparent" when set to "transparent=true" do not work with graphic object "ellipese" 
even the example in Help manual would return no image.
example in help manual:
draw2d(transparent = false,
             fill_color  = red,
             color       = gray30,
             transparent = false,
             line_width  = 5,
             ellipse(0,6,3,2,270,-270),
             /* center (x,y), a, b, start & end in degrees */
             transparent = true,
             color       = blue,

This bug was fixed short after the 5.22 release. It was due to a typo in
draw.lisp.

The reported bug is not present in the current cvs version of
Maxima.
