By Claude:
With %emode : true, the default, exp() takes a multiple of %i*%pi/2 out of its argument, but not when the coefficient of %pi shares a factor with the denominator of the other terms:
(%i1) display2d:false$
(%i2) exp(%i*x/2+3*%i*%pi/2);
(%o2) -(%e^((%i*x)/2)*%i)
(%i3) exp(%i*x/2+%i*%pi);
(%o3) %e^((%i*x)/2+%i*%pi)
(%i4) exp(%i*(x/3+%pi));
(%o4) %e^(%i*(x/3+%pi))
Expected: -%e^((%i*x)/2) and -%e^((%i*x)/3). The same happens with exp(%i*(x+2*%pi)/2), exp(%i*x/4+%i*%pi/2) and exp(%i*x/2+2*%i*%pi).
