#121 xmaxima fails

Maxima works well, but xmaxima doesn't. It fails to
start maxima and gives the following error messages

    I don't observe this behavior with a similar setup (maxima
    5.9.3 / clisp 2.34 on linux). Closing this report as "works
    for me".
