    Hi,
I just installed MaxFEM. Using Ubuntu 16.04LTS I installed as required all of the prerequisites, I edited ./code/wx_version.py to and made the change to wxversion.select("2.8"), and all built correctly. When I start MaxFEM I get the following output:

    MF pid 4168
    pathexe ./MaxFEM.py
    pathreal /home/serge/Documents/maxfem_0.3.4_source/code/MaxFEM.py
    pathname MaxFEM.py
    pathdir /home/serge/Documents/maxfem_0.3.4_source/code
    pathabs /home/serge/Documents/maxfem_0.3.4_source/code
    appname MaxFEM
    configdir /home/serge/.MaxFEM
    /home/serge/.MaxFEM/materialsDB/materials.xml
    /home/serge/.MaxFEM/config/config.xml
    /home/serge/.MaxFEM/config/config.xml
Error loading remote data: IOError(2, 'No such file or directory')
    PATH_READ_FAILED
    PATH_READ None
    datafile local.dat.xml
    to_save False

    How can this be fixed?

      Dear Mr. Lafontaine,

This is not a "real" error, a better denomination would be "info message".
Be aware that MaxFEM is running and operational. This message is related
with the fact that you never remotely executed MaxFEM so the program cannot
find previous information about a remote run.

Since we always use remote run, we do not notice this message. We will try
to improve these type of messages in a future release.

      Best,
      Francisco Pena

Thanks, this is very encouraging. For a first time user it is difficult to find basic information to get started.. I am not sure yet that it is fully functional, the GUI comes up but there is no menu items on it (such as Project-Mesh etc.) as shown in the attachment. There seems to be a text box but I can enter anything in it. And how do you run it remotely?

Hi, I am afraid that the second problem is related with where Ubuntu shows
the application menu. In general, you must move the mouse to the main
desktop bar, located at the upper part of the window, to see the
application menu. Be aware that this behavior can be changed in the Ubuntu
      Configuration Window.

Once you see the menu, please visit Help - Getting Started and Help -
      User Guide
      for more information.

      Best,
      Francisco Pena
