I second this question / request. The inkscape (inkscape.org) people are
making a full-featured Illustrator-like replacement for vector
illustration, and if matplotlib could generate SVGs, I'd never have to
touch bitmap figures again. I could do entire conference posters in SVG!
If Justin's not interested and would accept a patch, I might be willing
to try and tackle this...=20
