[Matplotlib-users] ld: cannot find -lgobject-2.0

Dear experts,

I am going to install matplotlib (latest cvs) on SuSe 9.1

The result of python setup.py build is

ld: cannot find -lgobject-2.0

locate libgobject gives

/opt/gnome/lib/libgobject-2.0.a
/opt/gnome/lib/libgobject-2.0.la
/opt/gnome/lib/libgobject-2.0.so
/opt/gnome/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0
/opt/gnome/lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0.200.3

What can I do to circumvent the problem ?
