Alan, This mailing list is obsolete; please use mat...@py.... Your traceback looks vaguely familiar as something that has come up before, but I don't have any more recollection than that. Suggestions: 1) Install your python environment the easy way via anaconda or miniconda: https://www.continuum.io/downloads 2) If you are *sure* you don't want to do it that way, make sure you have the most recent version of pip. 3) Likewise, install the most recent matplotlib.
