I am having a heck of time getting matplotlib installed on my amazon ec2 cluster. (I am new to python) I wonder if the problem is /usr/python points to an old version of python. I need to use /usr/bin/python2.7 I have tried using yum, yum-builddep, pip2.7, downloading the the source , and even cloning the master Yum see to know about /usr/bin/python which is an old version I need to use /usr/bin/python2.7. I tried searching for a RPM (http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/3/srodzaj/1/search/python-matplotlib) how ever I only found really old version. I have tried editing File "setupext.py", line 940, in check, looks like the min version is 2.4 I have 2.3.x But still can not figure out what the problem is Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
