Hi Torben, Thanks for the feedback. The recent discussion was about Uwe volunteering to help move matlab.el forward since I don't have the bandwidth to do that anymore. That took on the shape of some DVCS updates, installing some old pending patches, and possibly merging in some forks of matlab.el. I also think it would be great to get some of the debugging features working again. I haven't had time to do that though. I thought I saw someone post a patch/idea for getting some of that feature back by overloading some .m files in the matlab-mode toolbox directory and adding extra output, but I can't find the thread ATM. It would be great to keep that going. Hi One of the feature I miss most is to insert the result of matlab-shell-run-command in the matlab buffer. The following code cleans up that result and inserts it in the buffer. I have a different version which also wraps \begin{displaymath} \end{displaymath} Around it. The funny thing is that I wrote this function for Xemacs but in GNU emacs ; (string-rectangle (point-min) (point-max) "% ") behaves differently, it inserts the "% " but deletes all the other content! So I found a different solution using comment-region. Any comments and improvements are very welcome. Uwe Brauer (defun my-matlab-insert-simple-raw () "Change and insert the content of the *Matlab Help* buffer. (Sometimes invoked with `matlab-shell-run-command'.) `kill-empty-lines' put all results in one line, and `comment' them out according to the `matlab' syntax." (interactive) (save-excursion (let ((currentname (current-buffer))) (switch-to-buffer "*MATLAB Help*") (make-variable-buffer-local 'comment-start) (setq comment-start "%") (toggle-read-only nil) (goto-char (point-min)) (delete-empty-lines-region (point-min) (point-max)) (goto-char (point-max)) (delete-backward-char 1 nil) (goto-char (point-min)) (while (re-search-forward "=" nil t) (kill-line nil)) (goto-char (point-min)) (comment-region (point-min) (point-max) nil) ; (string-rectangle (point-min) (point-max) "% ") (switch-to-buffer currentname) (insert-buffer "*MATLAB Help*")))) |

I have a copy of the sf repo on my machine. I added github as a remote called github: git remote add github gi...@gi...:matlab-mode/mirror.git Now I fetch from sf and then push to the github remote: git push github master This is probably not optimal as I think there maybe problems with tags being lost. I think git push github master --tags is the correct command, but I haven't used it yet. Simon |

Hi This is a general question more connected to the underlying DRVS than to matlab. I said, when pushing yesterday, I generated an empty ChangeLog entry. Now git (and hg) allow to rewrite history, but in the case of an public repo it is strongly advised not to do so, because if people have already pulled they need to merge. Moreover since now the pointer of MELPA goes to the git repo in SF rewriting history might cause unforeseen trouble. Any opinions? Uwe Brauer |

Hi As I said yesterday I applied 2 patches and pushed them to SF. Since these patches were published anonymously on SF, and since I was too impatient to wait for a clarification, I did not mention the authors, neither in the matlab file nor in the ChangeLog. What is the common practise in such a case? @Eric: you said you had some patches, if you do please let me know. Thanks Uwe |

That is why I leave that delicate subject to the git experts :-D I just commit and pushed basically a version which added a sensible entry for git log. Uwe |

uwe, thanks for working on the merges you can fix a commit with amend: https://www.atlassian.com/git/tutorials/rewriting-history to change melpa, the normal approach is to submit a pull request in github at https://github.com/melpa/melpa, and then wait till someone accepts it. i could do it when i have time, till the end of the week. cheers d On Wed, Feb 10, 2016 at 11:39 AM, Uwe Brauer <ou...@ma...> wrote: > Hello > > I applied the two patches from > http://sourceforge.net/p/matlab-emacs/patches/1/ > http://sourceforge.net/p/matlab-emacs/patches/2/ > > Authors unknown, and I changed the version number to 3.3.3. > > Unfortunately the git log message is empty > (I am used to the fact, that emacs for HG just copies the relevant > entry from ChangeLog, but for git it did not) > > My apologies, I hope it would not happen again. > > I have not heard anything from the person you set up MELPA (which still > points to the CVS repo), anybody knows anything about it? > > Regards > > Uwe Brauer > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Site24x7 APM Insight: Get Deep Visibility into Application Performance > APM + Mobile APM + RUM: Monitor 3 App instances at just $35/Month > Monitor end-to-end web transactions and take corrective actions now > Troubleshoot faster and improve end-user experience. Hello I applied the two patches from http://sourceforge.net/p/matlab-emacs/patches/1/ http://sourceforge.net/p/matlab-emacs/patches/2/ Authors unknown, and I changed the version number to 3.3.3. Unfortunately the git log message is empty (I am used to the fact, that emacs for HG just copies the relevant entry from ChangeLog, but for git it did not) My apologies, I hope it would not happen again. I have not heard anything from the person you set up MELPA (which still points to the CVS repo), anybody knows anything about it? Regards Uwe Brauer |

I have set up a github mirror here: https://github.com/matlab-mode/mirror I've invited Andrzej Pronobis and Honglin Yu to join the matlab-mode organisation. If anyone else would like an invite, please let me know. As far as I can tell neither Eric nor Uwe have github accounts. It's a little incongruous that I end up owning this, but I'm happy to keep the mirror up-to-date. Simon |

By the way, I guess the el-get recipe below should be updated too https://github.com/dimitri/el-get/blob/master/recipes/matlab-mode.rcp -- Cayetano Santos On 09-02-16 17:08:32, Uwe Brauer wrote: >>>> "Sylvain" == Sylvain Rousseau <th...@gm...> writes: >Hi Sylvian, > > > > Hello, > > try the following patch: > > > http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=3468931&group_id= > > 154105&atid=790448 > > > Sylvain. > > > >Are you the author of that patch? > >Thanks > >Uwe Brauer > >------------------------------------------------------------------------------ >Site24x7 APM Insight: Get Deep Visibility into Application Performance >APM + Mobile APM + RUM: Monitor 3 App instances at just $35/Month >Monitor end-to-end web transactions and take corrective actions now >Troubleshoot faster and improve end-user experience. Could you please change the pointer for MELPA accordingly? Thanks and regards Uwe Brauer |

Hi Eric opened a git repo at sourceforge, I have write access and applied the first patch (see my other messages). git clone git://git.code.sf.net/p/matlab-emacs/src matlab-emacs-src Others who want to contribute: - please communicate your sourceforge uid to Eric. - github users, please set up a github mirror if you wish so that we can see whether we move completely to github.
