Hi, when I double click MathCast.exe, an error window shows up:
"MathCast Equation Editor has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvinience". I've already installed the fonts and changed the default windows menu font.

What version of windows are you using? MathCast is designed for Windows 2000 and XP.
That error suggests that some of the files are missing, or corrupted. If you unzip "MathCast_0_80_Win2kXP.zip" into a folder (any folder) and run MathCast.exe from that folder, it should work without any problems.

I just downloaded MathCast and I had the same problem. MathCast crashes immediately, and Windows wants to send an error report to Microsoft...
I saw another posting here, however, talking about a bug related to path names with spaces. I had effectivley but MathCast in folder where the path name contained not only spaces, but also accented characters (French Windows XP...). I simply moved the MathCast folder to the root, C:\, and it seems to work. Now I only have to figure out how to use it... ;)

I'm windowsXP user (Japanese).
And I found "Not Starting" problem depends on the
folder name.
I open zip file in 'My Document' folder,
but I couldn't start mathcast.exe.
The 'My Document' folder's name is Japanese
in Japanese environment.
But after I move them into the English named folder under C:drive, it started smoothly.
Same problem had occured when I tried to open tcltk
installer.(Activestate tcl installer) in
Japanese 'My Document' Foldler Japanese.
I hope this way solve the problem.

I'm getting a similar problem. I can start MathCast, but the Help feature doesn't work, either from the menu bar or any of the screens. Moving my MathCast folder to a folder without spaces in the name (Program Files --> Program1) didn't help. Is there a setting I need to tweak somewhere? Thanks,

Are yo saying that MathCast works fine, but you can't start the help?
If so try opening (double-clicking) on the help file located in MathCast's folder, Documentation.chm. It is the same help which is in MathCast. Windows should open the file using it's HTML Help Viewer. If not, maybe there is something missing or not installed correctly in your Windows.

I have windows xp on a really good laptop. I tried again but didn't work. Thanks anyway.
I'm very sorry, but I don't know what to tell you. I haven't heard of this problem before, and there is no way I can debug it to try and fix it.
If you have access to another computer, try loading it up there.
