I would really like UTF-8 support other than that this
is so far the thing I was looking for though I'm used
to rxvt-unicode atm...

Is there any work being done on this... and btw I
really like your choice of C over c++.

without c++ I would be very happy..."

yes, UTF-8 is in the plan. but I am really busy to push a
stable release asap before introduce a large pie of changes.
besides, I need to do some research on UTF-8.

agree. unicode support is badly needed.

    *bump*
Has there been any work on this feature lately?

also on a side note it would be nice to have UTF-8 support
    similar to rxvt-unicode one...

With the same ctrl+shift entry of unicodes :)

As for display just don't make it like mlterm... That has a
TON of options for diff fonts and is a PITA to get working.

In Ubuntu UTF-8 support for Mrxvt is needed too. Btw. Mrxvt
is the best solution for me and I don't want to change it.

UTF-8 support is one of the most important feature for
common users and I hope for developers of this great
terminal emulator too. More and more linux distributions use
unicode default after installation and it could be reason
for programmers of mrxvt to implement UTF-8 support. Sorry
for my terrible english. Ubuntu user.

What about the UTF8 support 2.5 years later?

I'm going to migrate to rxvt-unicode as there are no any inputs about utf support over last 3 years! great!

Working on it... Hopefully this may be out soon, but as I think it implies some major changes in the global data flow of mrxvt (I will arrange so that globally any encoding -- not only utf-8 -- will be improved), probably there will be some kind of a "beta" version first... I don't want to break all existing features and architecture supports while doing this.
