If it works with gnome-terminal, it is because all gnome application are "linked" through some kind of gnome framework (this is what they call a "desktop environment), so that all gnome program can share information, hence "discussing" and sending data from a program (apparently separated) to another. mrxvt has decided to be simple and with few dependencies (we don't use any graphical toolkit for instance and connect more directly to the X system for display). If we decided to support Gnome, then there would be suddenly a lot of dependencies. I think the whole team would refuse this (I would for my own!).

Of course it could be an option during compilation. In this case, if anyone wants to develop this and propose, I don't think it will be refused (at least I won't refuse but I am not the boss here). What I know is that for my own, I won't develop this because I personnaly don't care about this, nor I consider this as very important.

But maybe am I wrong, or at least not well informed about something (I am not a desktop expert, I don't know well all the stuffs about program relationship) and there is some standard about desktop integration in a "generic" way (something not gnome-specific, or kde-specific, etc.). If this is the case, it can be interesting. And if you have information about this (some links for instance?), I am interested for my own.
