Even if the dates are entered in the right format, if you
enter a date such as 01-01-1969 you will get a system
error - this is true for both the Submit Prayer Request
portlet and Search portlet.
The problem is from the DateField limits of Lucene-1.4. The
temperary fix is to set the year range check is set from
1907-5287 to be consistent to Lucene-1.4

When I used "01-01-1970 ", the message showed "Wrong
date format. Plase use the "MM-DD-YYYY" format, such as
08-28-2004" which was not clear about the issue. Please
rephrase the wording.

Fix could mean not using Lucene's Date support directly,
instead using a Date string supporting "lexicographic sorting":

A user would not expect to see a date format error when
specifying a correctly formatted date with 1969 for the year.
