One thing I was very interested in was shotgun
technology, or multi-link, or multichannel -- where you
use two phone lines to approximately double your
current connection speed. You need two phone lines,
two modems, and an ISP that supports that technology.
I understand it isn't perfect, but if you can find an ISP
that is good, and supports that technology without
charging a lot more, then it can be worth it.
I was trying hard to find feedback on someone that had
done this, after reading the book "an Idiot's guide to high
speed internet access" and finally found a person that
had used this, and it worked fairly well for him. Also,
one of the 2 phones can be your phone line -- if you pick
up the phone, the computer goes back to one phone line,
when you hang up, it speeds up again using two phone
lines.
