Those who want Marathon to be as close as possible to original but improved in ways that do not alter the parts of it we would like to preserve, such as the gameplay. 2. Those who want to make a very different game based on the Marathon engine. I side with #1: Improve Marathon, but keep the important stuff that makes it better than other games. OpenGL is good because it makes the graphics better, jumping and headshots are bad because they interfere with existing maps and change the gameplay in unexpected ways. If you want an ultra-realistic game play Deus Ex. If you want to have a lot of fun, play Marathon. I would like that to remain true. --Mark |
