Makulu ( Pronounced: Ma-Coo-Loo ) is a African Zulu word for “Figure of Authority”. Like Big Chief, Big Momma, Big Daddy…

Makulu Develops Linux distributions and Tools with unconventional and outside of the box thinking. Our Team is small but dedicated to producing excellence above all else. We firmly believe that Linux should not only be stable, but should also reflect the times in terms of ease of use and beauty, Thus you will find that Makulu Distro builds are always stunning out of the box and also feature packed.

Unlike many other Distro developers out there, We don’t simply download a Ubuntu, mint or Debian iso and slap some themes on and out comes a release. We have our own Bases that we spent years developing

We hope your time with Makulu is an enjoyable one, and please remember that should you need assistance, guidance or want to provide feedback, you can do so Via the Forums or even pop into our live Chat room. We always like hearing from users.

Grub Customiser is a 3rd party app, we dont develop it, perhaps contact the developer or just simply edit grub the old fashioned way ?
  • This distro impresses me. The only reason I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is that its Gnome-based infrastructure (and the fact that key components, such as the interface customizations available in the Shift edition rely on Gnome extensions in some part) makes me feel as though there could be issues with features breaking every time Gnome makes an update. Not the fault of the Makulu team, just a fact of life with Gnome unfortunately. That said though, it is quite obvious that the Makulu team not only care about aesthetics and user-focused design, but are actually quite skilled in these areas also. It's a beautiful distro, and I've never been greeted by a full-screen welcome tutorial video when booting into a new distro before this. Good stuff!

We have built in protection against that happening, this build is safe from extension breakage.
  • I came across MakuluLinux as a reference to "leaving Windows xp", I already use Fedora, so I downloaded a copy for my wife. It is a very pretty distribution. It is what I term beautiful. I installed it twice. The first time as a beta, and the second as the bug fixed released product. I had absolutely no issues with the second installation. It functions well, I will be showing it to retired seniors who want to learn about Linux and the web. The author needs some compassionate donation financial support. The corona virus has consequences. I did my share.
