Hey mailcrypters! I just wanted to let everyone know that with Brian Warner's blessing and coordination, I've taken over mailcrypt as its maintainer. I've come up with a general near-term release schedule, and by announcing it I hope if forces me to stick to it. 3.5.9 - a bug fix release containing most of the queued bug reports/patches. I hope to release this on 2007-11-24. 3.6.0 - a feature addition/enhancement release. I hope to release this by 2008-01-02. 4.0.0 - long awaited S/MIME support. I hope to have this out by mid-spring. Please not that this schedule isn't set in stone. The version numbering isn't either. Regardless, now is the time to get any patches or bug reports that you have queued up in to the project trackers. Bugs: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=397&atid=100397 Patches: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=397&atid=300397 One final note, I've disabled non-subscriber posting to mailcrypt-bugs. No more Russian spam! nega |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've just released mailcrypt-3.5.8. This is a bugfix release, bringing anonymous remailer support up to date with modern remailers, and fixing a GPG passphrase caching bug that would hit folks who use multiple keys with the same name but different passphrases. The release is available from the sourceforge download page at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=397 or if you want to avoid the download-mirror stuff, http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/mailcrypt/ md5sum mailcrypt-3.5.8.* 411b53d4ce9f92102d994eb7a8f661ba mailcrypt-3.5.8.tar.gz 6a06f86b78a306f70ee0644bd20d2569 mailcrypt-3.5.8.tar.gz.asc The release is signed with my GPG key 0x03A5E108, available from the keyservers or my personal home page at: http://www.lothar.com/warner-gpg.html Please submit bugs to the SourceForge bug tracker at http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=397 or to the mailcrypt-bugs mailing list. NEWS entry attached below. Please feel free to forward this to any lists that seem appropriate. Give it a whirl, submit bugs. I'm especially interested in feedback on the remailer changes. Share and Enjoy! -Brian <war...@lo...> Noteworthy changes in Mailcrypt version 3.5.8: * mc-remail.el updated to support modern remailers (as defined by MixMaster version 2.9b33, on sourceforge). Closes most of SF#583330. ** the 'Subject:' header is now put in the ## section instead of the :: section, so remailers should copy them into the final message. ** Use Anon-To: instead of Request-Remailing-To * fixed mc-gpg.el to cache passphrases by keyid instead of name; this will help users who have multiple secret keys with the same name but different passphrases. Closes Debian #161691. * less noteworthy changes: ** added copy of GPL, since mailcrypt is distributed separately from Emacs ** Added unit test for anonymous remailer support. Encrypting through a basic remailer chain can now be verified, if you have python and py-gnupg installed. ** docs: updated 'finger' addresses for remailer lists again, since they keep moving -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.0 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Processed by Mailcrypt 3.5.8 <http://mailcrypt.sourceforge.net/> iD8DBQE9ksCI/k9efwOl4QgRAjaIAJ0X5oidepqYdiFD3+7lw3AfwxotTACbBle8 y3B/dd0z3LZnxUxMpZR3ESQ= =ysR9 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I've just finished releasing mailcrypt-3.5.6. The only major change is a one-character (literally!) regexp fix that was preventing mailcrypt from working with gnupg-1.0.5 (the latest release). I've also updated the docs to point to the new MailCrypt home on sourceforge (http://mailcrypt.sourceforge.net), and along the way picked up some bug fixes that have been in CVS for quite a while without ever getting released. This is the first version released off the sourceforge CVS tree, and my first attempt at a mailcrypt release. Please let me know if I missed anything. The release is available from the sourceforge download page at <http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=397> (although <http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/mailcrypt/> is slightly more direct). md5sum mailcrypt-3.5.6.* 927cdd34882c490aa0fe0ac91b9d599c mailcrypt-3.5.6.sig 3078e0674f70a345217799f623a5a436 mailcrypt-3.5.6.tar.gz The release is signed (mailcrypt-3.5.6.sig) with my (DSA) public key 0x4B71C44E, available from the keyservers or my personal home page at <http://www.lothar.com/warner-gpg.html>. I'm looking for someone(s) to help maintain the PGP side of mailcrypt, especially folks who are interested in the newer versions of PGP (>5), since I don't use them myself. There are also lots of bugs to fix and features to add (proper MIME support is high on the list). Feel free to join in the fun! NEWS entry attached below. Please feel free to forward this to any lists that seem appropriate. Share and Enjoy! -Brian <war...@lo...> ================================================ Noteworthy changes in Mailcrypt version 3.5.6: * Fix to work with GnuPG-1.0.5. * Update docs to point to new home on SourceForge. * Changes that have been languishing in CVS for, um, ages. (18 months? eek!) * Bugfix in mh-rmail support. Len's note says it "dropped the user into a stupid buffer after decrypting a message". * Bugfix in RMAIL "signature verified" status indicator (the "verified" label). Old code got the flag backwards if you chose to replace the encrypted message with the decrypted plaintext. New code fixes that and marks the message decrypted (and verified, if appropriate) even if you just view it without replacing the original. * Minor build fixes. ================================================ -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.4 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Processed by Mailcrypt 3.5.6 and Gnu Privacy Guard <http://www.gnupg.org/> iD8DBQE7ChuRLnyKqEtxxE4RAj5RAKDW+b8IQq2YxKv2f8yH9Xxd0+NBhACgxvAm xWXqGFqgE9re8djzFiftA+c= =D6fL -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |
