Dear list, First of all, let me introduce myself. I'm a senior Windows Network administrator, but a complete Linux newbie. I'm just starting to give my first steps in this area, to get the knowledge to start converting some of my networks (at least the server parts) to linux. Having established my ignorance in this field, please apologise any nonsense or rubbish I may say. My current config: Suse Linux Professional 8.2 Laptop Asus B1 Network card Proxim (ORiNOCO) 802.11b/g Combo PCMCIA I installed the card, and YAST2 detects it correctly as being a Proxim Ethernet controller. My problem is that differently from what happens in Windows, only the power light blinks, the network light doesn't, and I can't seem to find the card as correctly configured. Btw, although YAST2 detects the card, the "Kernel module" line is empty, differently from what usually happens with other cards. If I do iwconfig results: lo no wireless extensions. eth0 no wireless extensions. sit0 no wireless extensions. Can anyone give me some help making this work? I installed a normal 802.11b card in a friends laptop also with suse 8.2, and it worked perfectly. Thanks in advance, Filipe Joel de Almeida |
