Hi Carlos! Since you are asking on madwifi-list, which only is dedicated to madwifi, I suppose the answer is - yes, you can do so only with Atheros NICs. At least I know of no other card or respectively driver, that supports multiple VAPs. If you know about another driver, you could of course use that hardware as well. But then again, you would be limited to that very card manufacturer. The only other option I see is to attach two wireless NICs, one is responsible for connection and datatransfer, the other operates on the same channel an sniffs the traffic. But why doing so, if you can achieve it with one card? And apart from that, why don't you use the solution you mentioned with madwifi, VAP and one NIC from Atheros?
