While the details of video are not particularlly 'on topic' for the madwifi list... packet dropping effects usually exhibit the 'macro blocking' look on the receiver. On can see this effect in satelite links when there is fading due to atmosphic conditions, and big chunky blocks appear on the screen. Terrestrial links have fading as well, but far more infrequently... Depending on the encoding and the block that is lost, the effect may be as minimal to the human viewer as 'a glitch' in the smoothness of the video, or the big chunky blocks, or just black screen when the is too much loss. If one needs to maintain 'fit for broadcast'... the loss of a block is significant. So, in the case of using an 802.11 solution, one begins to think of how to absolutely guarentee bandwidth, multiple devices, expensive filters, etc. but even after all that, there still may be some dropped blocks...
