I am using slackware with the madwifi drivers patched for injection. I have gotten injection and monitoring working fine but I cannot associate with the AP. These are the steps I have gone through from reading the newbie guide and other information I have found online. rmmod ath_pci modprobe ath_pci iwconfig ath0 (shows ath0 interface in managed mode, I have also used wlanconfig to create an interface) modprobe wlan_scan_sta iwconfig ath0 up iwlist ath0 scan (which displays my AP with correct information with ~30/94 signal) iwconfig ath0 essid myAP iwconfig ath0 key 0123456789 (my 40bit key) iwpriv ath0 authmode 1 iwconfig ath0 (to make sure the changes stuck, they did, however "Access Point: Not Associated" is shown :-( ) dhcpcd ath0 (this hangs for a long time before timing out back to a prompt) ifconfig ath0 (does not show that I have gotten IP, ping tests also fail at this point :-( ) iwconfig ath0 ap 00:00:00:00:00:00 (manually enter my APs MAC in place of zeros) iwconfig ath0 (Now my APs MAC is listed after "Access Point: " however, signal quality is 0/94) iwconfig ath0 channel 6 (manually enter frequency of AP) dhcpcd ath0 (times out again) At this point I've tried many different things, I also have tried: dhclient ath0 which displays this error: wifi0: unknown hardware address type 801 drop_priviledges: user dhcp does not exist At this point I am an unhappy camper, iwconfig ath0 still displays zero signal quality. My AP works, and the key is correct as I am using the same AP settings with the same laptop booted into windows to write this email. Without encryption enabled on the AP I am also not able to connect to the AP. I have tried these steps after reboots, after destroying and recreating the interface, and tried using wlassistant. It seems strange because monitoring and injection work (I successfully used airpwn to mess with my roommates when encryption was turned off on the AP). Any help would be appreciated, or even a push in the right direction. Thankyou, Brian |
