You are confusing authentication with the base handling of packets. This is an example of the confusion. The meaning of the underlying ioctl is not well-defined so far as I can tell--the only place it's really set out is in the iwconfig manual page and the description there is unclear. Someone needs to survey all the drivers and figure out what the expected behaviour is. ieee80211_wireless.c is intended to emulate what Linux users expect for the wireless extensions API. Sam |
