Problem with Madwifi on Linux 2.6 with ACPI compiled in. System:=20 Laptop Compaq Presario 1700T / Gentoo Linux 2004.1 + some updates Wireless: Proxim Orinoco 11b/g PC Card (Model 8471-WD) kernel: gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.5-r1 madwifi from portage: madwifi-drivers-0.1_pre20040514 (ath_hal 0.9.8.6,=20 wlan 0.7.3.1 BETA, ath_pci 0.8.5.5 BETA, Chipset ID'ed as Atheros 5212) Description: When the card is inserted, the events/0 process uses up to 99% of CPU=20 time as reported by top. Card is assigned IP via DHCP and I can ping=20 other computers. But, the system is too slow to be usable. With a kernel compiled with ACPI off, the card works. I haven't tried it with a gentoo-sources 2.4 kernel. However, I tried Knoppix 3.4 today. It defaults to a 2.4 kernel which=20 does use ACPI. The card works normally. But with the 2.6 kernel, I get=20 the same behavior as my gentoo 2.6 kernel. If anyone has a clue..... TIA =2D-=20 Best regards, Philippe Cl=E9ri=E9 |
