Macha

Maven Central

Project Title and Overview

Macha is a modular and scalable framework for building robust e-commerce apps. Based on Clean Architecture principles, it provides reusable components for core commerce workflows such as product catalogs, user profiles, order processing, payment integrations, and vendor management. The project uses a monorepo structure and is managed with SVN, allowing developers to check out and work on individual modules.

Module List

  • core — Core shared libraries and building blocks (entities, interactors/use-cases, adapters) designed for reuse.
  • apps — Application-layer modules that adapt and customize Core for specific workflows and for end-to-end/reference implementations.
  • machaon — Infrastructure/demo builds to run and test end-to-end flows across deployment styles such as containers and FaaS.

Installation Instructions

Prerequisites

  • Java 8 (see java.version in the root pom.xml)
  • Apache Maven 3.9.6+
  • SVN client (or Git-SVN)

Checkout (SVN)

svn checkout https://svn.code.sf.net/p/macha/code/trunk macha
cd macha

Build

mvn -V clean verify

To build the documentation site:

mvn -V clean site

Usage

Build specific modules

mvn -pl core -am clean install
mvn -pl apps -am clean install
mvn -pl machaon -am clean install

Running examples / demos

Many runnable examples live under apps and machaon.

  • apps: contains assemblies and adapters used for examples and end-to-end testing.
  • machaon: contains demo/infrastructure builds (containers/FaaS); follow the module documentation for environment-specific run/deploy steps.

Example: build and verify the apps module:

cd apps
mvn -V clean verify

Contributing

  • Keep modules focused on a single responsibility.
  • Follow Clean Architecture boundaries (dependencies point inward).
  • Match existing formatting, naming conventions, and package structure.
  • Add or update tests where applicable.

Process

  1. Open/update an issue with context, expected behavior, and reproduction steps (for bugs).
  2. Make changes using SVN branching or a patch-based workflow.
  3. Verify locally:
mvn -V clean verify
  1. Submit your change for review using the project’s preferred review process.
