#1 Slow MP3 encodes

Going from AC-3 to AIFF, then using the lame command line
encoder to encode takes less time than going straight from
AC-3 -> MP3. I understand AC-3 decoding is processor
intensive, the LAME source code does not have any altivec or
g3 optimizations, and just generally doing a general
transcode instead of a decode-encode in addition...

I dont mean like sorta slow... I mean like so slow that it is
unbearable... (4 minute AC-3 pre-demuxed took like half an
hour) I noticed that the slowdown happened progressively, if
that helps...

It is slow for me, too. Not as slow as the previous
posting, but the most interesting thing to me is that it
doesn't take full use of the processor. On a g4/667, the
machine runs at about 33% idle while mac3dec is decoding.

It's much slower than the previous version. Encoding the same (!) file
took half an hour with the previous version; 4 hours with 1.6.3!

mAC3dec 1.5.2: 3 minutes
mAC3dec 1.6.3: 3 1/2 hours!
