[Lxr-general] newbie: perl does not execute

hi guys/gals,
it's been a long week trying to get lxr working :(
being new at this, maybe i am missing out on something trivial.
i think i am close but not just quite there as yet. i believe i have 
followed the INSTALL docs closely. my .htaccess file is default.
when i point to http://localhost.localdomain/lxr
i get the raw source files instead of perl executing. i have copied the 
Local.pm and /lib/LXR dir to /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl
and http://localhost.localdomain/lxr/diff
