(This is a copy, without the attached images - see here for the images: http://imgur.com/OZNSquB,Ko82y61) Hi Yao Wei, LXDE wiki is facing a lot of difficulties. Let me list them for you: 1) Some pages show the wrong information. For example: http://wiki.lxde.org/de/Kategorie:Systemvorraussetzungen and http://wiki.lxde.org/en/Main_Page show some strange spam content (if you can't see it yourself, have a look at wrongcontents.png and MainPageEnWrong.png - these files are attached) I have also noticed pages showing French, German or other language information (on the English version!!) It can be temporary solved with a null edit (just edit and save the page) but a few days/hours later, the same issue arises. Other pages affected: http://wiki.lxde.org/de/LXAppearance http://wiki.lxde.org/de/Arch_Linux http://wiki.lxde.org/de/LXSession (and many more) 2) Some pages show a big error message (MediaWiki internal error). This included the Category:Linux Distributions but since I pasted its contents on a new page, this is no longer the case (that's the positive news for now). However, the issue remains with a lot of other pages: http://wiki.lxde.org/en/Category:Category http://wiki.lxde.org/en/Category:LXDE 3) Spam is still targeting the various LXDE wiki languages. See: http://wiki.lxde.org/en/index.php?title=Special:RecentChanges http://wiki.lxde.org/de/Spezial:Letzte_%C3%84nderungen I use an actionaz.org script (and so does Southparkfan) written by myself to remove spam. However, this does NOT reduce spam, neither does it solve the problems it creates (Random page not working, database becoming slow) ========= To solve these problems, we need: 1) A fresh start - new database and new setup of MediaWiki with the latest versions. Article code can be copied by hand, I'm willing to help (note that if you make a fresh start on wiki.lxde.org, the contents need first to be saved somewhere - good information WHEN you are planning to start with the new installation is wanted). 2) Antispam tools - there are a millions (not that many - just joking) of them currently, but we don't have them installed: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:UploadBlacklist Please have a look at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Combating_spam To see which extensions we have now, see http://wiki.lxde.org/en/Special:Version - see "Spam Prevention". With a fresh start, we also need the currently installed extensions (some are bundled by default). Please let me know your thoughts. Kind regards, Geoffrey De Belie / Smile4ever |
