Hi everyone,

After a lot of poking around and documentation reading, I found it.

It turns out that

    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-s

was not interpreting things within the context of the DocumentRoot.
Changing that line to

    RewriteCond /var/lib/lurker-www/%{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-s

allows things to work as advertised. :)
