I had to reinstall Ubuntu and my applications because of a boot issue I could not resolve. I have a backup of my original system, so I copied some files over (the configuration files for the applications) after the fresh install. Now I'm getting a strange result from one of my jobs. Here's what I have:
`Source: /media/Data/My Documents/
Destination: /nfs/Ubuntu_Data_Backup/`
What LuckyBackup is doing is creating a folder named "My Documents" on Ubuntu_Data_Backup and placing all the files under My Documents in there. The problem is, the backups from before my issue occurred went to the destination without the folder My Documents. So I now have all the folders and files in My Documents and a folder named "My Documents" with everything in there again. Before, I did not get my documents backed up to the NFS drive under a "My Documents" folder. Why is this doing this now?

Although I cannot understand why, maybe there was some error during the old LB config copy.
What this checkbox does is that it adds (or removes) a trailing "/" at the source path. You can confirm this (that a trailing slash exists at the source) by clicking the "validate" button.
Could you un-check the "do NOT create extra directory", check it back and then save the profile.
If this does not work, could you send me the .profile file you are using at luckyb69@users.sourceforge.net so that I can have a look?

Okay, I unchecked the "Do Not create extra directory" then rechecked it. This time, the "My Documents" folder only contains one folder named .luckybackup-snapshots. Inside .luclybackup-snapshots, there is a folder called default.profile. Inside default.profile, there are three folders called logs, profiles, and snaps. Inside the profiles folder there is a file called called default.profile. Here are its' contents:
The destination obviously specifies a "My Documents" folder. Why that is there I cannot explain. I can say that when I ran this backup again, there are none of my data files in "My Documents" The log file in the logs folder shows the same destination.
Finally, my top folder of my backup nfs drive has the contents of "My Documents". Aditionally, there is a .luckybackup-snaphots folder with the same structure as listed above. The default.profile file has the correct destination, /nfs/Ubuntu_Data_Backup/
So either the clicking off, then on, reset the destination, or there is something I do not comprehend happening. I will know for sure when I run my next backup. If I only get a few files, things will be correct. I'll post here when I do my next run.
BTW, can I safely delete the "My Documents" folder on /nfs/Ubuntu_Data_Backup?

Yes, you can safely delete it. LB will backup .profile files, logs and snapshots concerning the current pforile to the destination, just in case. The .luckybackup-snapshots directory is exactly this.
By the way, keep an eye on your 2nd task cause it's going to create another "My Documents" folder inside /media/butch/Ubuntu_Data_Backup/My Documents/

Okay, things are back to normal. I do not know how that job was changed. It must have happened during my recovery. Perhaps that's when the "Do not create..". got out of synch. In any case my system is as it should be now.
As for the other job, I backup the entire disk to that drive, so that's as it should be.
Thanks for your help.

Hello,
Could you first check that the "do NOT create extra directory" box is enabled ?
http://luckybackup.sourceforge.net/manual.html#OperationType
Yes, the"Do not create extra directory" box is checked.
Although I cannot understand why, maybe there was some error during the old LB config copy.
