Portability is non-issue in the first place (the tool seems to be supposed to be self compatible anyways, and plaintext configuration is portable enough already), and XML is not really human editable. Introducing shadow configs might be okay for openSUSE with users already used to YaST wiping "real" configs over with generated but generally it's a bad idea (see also e.g. fillup). > Wishing all the luck to Jan I'm afraid he'll need a lot, it's quite an enterprise to accomplish.
