LTSP-4.1 beta 1 is going really well. We've been squishing lots of
bugs, and things are looking good.
Among the bug-fixes/enhancements are:
o Updated the niclist in the initrd (part of the kernel pkg).
Somehow, the niclist in the first ltsp-4.1 kernel package was
really old.
o Created a kernel modules package.
o Fixed the rdesktop screen_script. It was looking for XFree86 instead
of the newer Xorg binary.
o USB Mice and Keyboards should now be automatically detected and used.
No additional entries in lts.conf should be needed.
o Applied patch from Eric Harrison, so that if the video chipset can't
be auto-detected, a warning will be displayed, but then the 'vesa'
Xserver will be used.
o Additional video chipsets added to the vidlist, for video chipset
autodetection.
o Fixed the kernel panic problem when booting with Etherboot.
A wrong value was being passed to the kernel for the root fs,
which caused /linuxrc to be run twice. The 2nd time would fail
because dhcpcd was already running.
If you are running LTSP-4.1 Beta 1, then updating is really simple.
As root, just run the 'ltspadmin' utility and choose
"Install/Update LTSP Packages"
It will show you the components that have updates available.
Go ahead and select those updates, and when you leave that screen,
the updates will be installed.
Thanks,
Jim McQuillan
