The AIM7 throughput peak is slightly higher with the "friendlier" relaxing of interrupts-disabled -- about 1%, which is in the noise level (32p). The throughput degradation is less, i.e., somewhat flatter, beyond the peak throughput. I didn't notice any improvement in interactivity. It did, however, eliminate the 800 msec interrupts-disabled periods due to the write_lock_irq(&tasklist_lock) calls -- again, this is in 2.4.19. John Hawkes |
