I've seen some issues with an i1Display as well. I was able to take
ambient light readings OK, but calibration was very odd. It only
advanced to the next swatch when I pressed a key (even a modifier key).
It hung indefinitely at the start of measurement for profiling.

It seems like there might be some instrument access issues on Mac OS X.
