#4 unplayed songs remain neutral

songs that have never been played (and hence never
rated) are considered to be neutral. This means they
get bumped down the list each new startup.

I'd prefer to have -no repeats- until all songs are
played at least once, and then have the ratings system
kick in.

Great program - looking forward to tighter XMMS
integration and a more compact interface if you have time!

    Actually, LongPlayer is very fond of songs that have never
    been played before: if you don't set your "importance of
    ratings" slider too high, it will favor unplayed songs over
    highly rated songs.
    As for your "no repeats" approach: this is pretty hard and
    slow to implement due to the "dynamic playlist thingies".
    The basic lplayer approach is: look at a few random songs:
    pick out what seems to be the best one.

    fair enough... I did ump up my slider a bit - how high would
    you define as "too high"?
