Hi everyone, At the hack-a-thon we discussed the possibility of developing an application that would provide the functionality to handle Article-Level data for chronam. Basically, as it stands now there is no standard for article-level metadata. Brian Geiger, the director at the research center at UC Riverside that participates in the NDNP, is on the ALTO board. He suggested we approach Clay Redding about starting a discussion with the goal of coming up with a standard for article-level data. Once the standard is agreed upon, it will be easier to develop article-level capabilities for chronam for those institutions who are interested. It would be beneficial to have those familiar with their institution's article-level metadata on the initial call, so I'm calling out to those who are interested in attending the conference call. Also, if anybody knows of any other people who should be on the call, please send me their contact information. Depending on how the call goes, perhaps we could later include vendors who produce the article-level data. Maybe we could even convince vendors who have developed commercial display systems that have dealt a variety of article-level schemas to share with us how they handle the differences. Hopefully we can get together and come up with a plan that will lead to providing article-level functionality to chronam.
