I am very pleased to see people with ideas to push further the midi features. There are a lot of things doable. I would be glad to bring something myself but i am not a coder and simply having a good detailed feature (that would work indeed) is a challenge. :) Me, it is for drums that i would need to dispatch each notes on different midi ports/channels. I remember that the drumeditor promised to send the notes on different midi channels but i am afraid this functionnality is born-dead. Amongst the best sequencers i have seen to date is the QY700 Yamaha (an arranger in fact). I would like to sum up in a document all the aspects in the various midisequencers that have impressed me.. The Ensoniq EPS16+ (and later ASR10) has a damn good fast easy going sequencer. A real joy to compose "live". On the other extreme, I had once a period with Common Music wich is a Lisp environment, really powerfull and top of the art for algorythmic composition. Has your proposal some similarities ? I will read the thread carefully. There is a graphical thing similar to CM: http://recherche.ircam.fr/equipes/repmus/OpenMusic/ There are probably other softwares like that.. But one of the sequencer i liked much is Bars And Pipes (AMIGA). There are a very clever anr rich plugins system. Would it be killer to see that again in Muse ? :) Here a page very very interesting about it ; http://fromwithin.com/liquidmidi/archive.shtml There is even the source code of the sequencer, may be some plugins are there too ? If you want to read the documentation of the plugins, download "Bars&Pipes Tool guide" zip file and read the doc with AGReader : http://main.aminet.net/pub/aminet/misc/unix/AGReader.tgz Cheers, L. |
