Hi, some time ago, we have been discussing the MusE ports and their behaviour. I always wondered how MIDI ins and outs are divided by MusE, and I didn't clearly understand the MIDI port settings dialog. Just some minutes ago, a big surprise. Today I got a midisport 8x8 MIDI interface/patchbay. Finally, I can assign each instrument a dedicated MIDI out and assigning instrument definitions to an output instead to one particular channel finally makes sense for me. I wanted to receive MIDI in exactly by *one* MIDI input. The big surprise was that MusE alway uses MIDI in as well as MIDI out as soon as I assign any MIDI in the ports settings: http://sysexxer.sf.net/files/MusEconnection.png It is one of the great advantages of ALSA that MIDI ins are absolutely independent from MIDI outs and the user can connect them as he likes. Now I have made the settings in MusE. I tried to disconnect the MIDI ins 1 through 3 using qjackctl, but as soon as I disconnect one input, *all* ins and outs get disconnected : ( . Is there a certain philosophy I still didn't understand? I'm really a bit confused. Werner made some suggestions about another port handling, but I was not familiar enough with these things so I didn't understand everything. Best regards ce |
