I noted that this setting is not controlled by the MusE app. It is controlled by the song file which is loaded when MusE starts, chosen in config settings "last song, default.med, or specific file". Note that there is no 'blank' setting, only loading of a file. Therefore to help new users, since they are first presented with default.med, I simply changed it in default.med This also helps me and others. I choose to always start with default.med. I think from past posts we can agree that it is better to present new users with a more familiar General Midi environment. The 'NO' song type, together with the selectable 'generic midi' instrument type, would therefore be for more non-standard custom situations. Now that both of those setting are changed, let us now spend time helping those rarer users, rather than me explaining to everyone else why 'it' (GM) doesn't work out of the box, he he :) Currently we have no 'close' or 'clear song' menu function. Nor as I say above, a 'blank' starting song (ie no file loaded). I have for a while been pondering an easier 'close' or 'clear song' menu, which loads no song file, not even default. Point being simply that if and when we do that, then song type will have to forced by programmatic means, but just in that case. Anyway again, aside from that, hopefully we (I) can remove the song type soon. Tim. |
