Sorry for the late reply, bud... Over the summer I attempted just that. A sort of 'disconnect from Jack transport' option, exactly like Rosegarden had (Settings->Sequencer->Synchronisation). (Curiously I find no such option in RG now. Do you?) Also like Ardour when that sync button is NOT on 'Jack', but 'Internal' or 'MMC'. All the code is in place in an old tree from the summer, trouble is, it didn't work. When I last left the code, if disconnect was on, Muse still didn't like it and timed out. It required some pretty serious mods to muse/driver/jack.cpp (essentially disconnecting Muse from Jack). Now that I think of it, IIRC trouble was if Jack was disconnected, MusE had no timing source. It needs one. I'm sure I'll remember some more, but yeah you're right, it does need this, especially if I'm ever to complete some of the important external sync work I started months ago, er, remember? That stuff was pretty advanced. You guys don't even know yet, this stuff waiting to be committed, he he... In counterbalance to you utterly thorough disgust with our product may I present a little treat? See the ChangeLog... Once again, in muse CVS REL07 branch. If you haven't already discovered our addition. You mentioned casually a few days ago that you use this "type of feature", hope you find it useful. Tim.
