.. Maybe I'll give it a go. There's a few I wwant to try... damn I need a dev box.. (not much good with virtuals when doing audio work) in gentoo's defence. I have heard about all this in fighting but I am not involved. Occasionally I have to fight with a lib conflict, but nothing like in the days of using RH or Mandrake.. Compile Time??? My audio PC is a core2duo, I have an opteron (dual) in the living room for Mythtv and my router, firewall, webserver, fileserver, asterisk box is a amd x2 4200+ ..... I run distcc... so it's pretty damned fast... and my optimisations are nicely set (but not overly set)..
