Reproduction recipe:
- create new midi channel
- assign it to a port (with an instrument mapped to it)
- select a patch from the instrument, choose volume, etcetera
- whenever you go to the start of the song, the track forgets all these settings and sets them to "off"
- same applies when setting these parameters in a part
- the only way to fix this is to hard code the parameters as control events in the part.
This is a functional design bug
- you would expect that the settings are stored or
- you would not expect them to but there is no indication of how to remember them.
Thanx in advance.

If the "Channel info" group is only meant to display the state of the current track, the controls should be read-only.
This behaviour is a bit strange, but it's not a bug, it's a feature™.
There are buttons next to the controls you can manipulate. When you click that button, the change is actually stored to the song, doing what you want.
I agree that this is quirky and should possibly be changed. We'll discuss this on our mailing list (which everyone is invited to join, btw.)
Around the time of removal of Song Type, some re-writes
and user Settings were also added to fix this problem.
Hope it works better for you now. Maybe more to evolve?
Introduced into MusE-2.1-RC1, I believe.
Tim.
