1) with a possibility to set conditions at certain places, there would be a great enhancement for developing little dynamic parts of page.
e. g.: -setting a "selected" class within a navigation enables rendering of a website with working internal linking.

2) merging with separate content-files (xml, csv, ...), for example certain modules get merged with specific content files following a predefined protocol/structure

Making the template engine more powerful would require a bigger refactoring. There are plans to do this but this would not be a short term solution. You could use the view.yml to set up different configurations and add string values for the style class. A sample structure could be something like this:

HEADER : _Header
CONTENT : [content_item.html, content_item.html, content_item.html]
FOOTER : _Footer

IMPRINT_CLASSNAME : "".selected""
